Hair Transplant For Women

Hair transplantation in women is an extremely important treatment because it has a positive impact on their appearance. Hair loss or total loss is a worrying situation that no one wants to experience.
Although it is much more commonly used in men, it has become much more common for women to benefit from hair transplantation treatments.
The methods used in men are also used in women. The most commonly used method in women is the DHI method, according to the photo examination, our specialist applies one of the two most preferred techniques.
One in every four women faces the problem of hair loss. This number can be seen in two out of every four women during menopause.
Approximately 40% of women with hair loss problems have ‘female pattern hair loss’ caused by genetic factors.
Although there are about 30 different factors that can cause hair loss in women, only some of these factors affect the majority of women.
Hair thinning is seen in 10% of pre-menopausal women and more than 50% of women over the age of 65.
84% of women with hair loss struggle with low self-esteem and 34% with depression, while 94% find hair loss less socially acceptable than men.
Approximately 14.7% of hair transplant recipients worldwide are women.
Causes of hair loss in women Alopecia is the most common cause of hair loss in women.
Other main causes of hair loss in women are:
- Genetic predisposition
- Autoimmune diseases
- Hormonal changes
- Medication use
- Menopause
- Pregnancy
- Excessive stress
- Iron deficiency
What is androgenetic alopecia?
In male and female pattern androgenetic alopecia, the changes in the hair follicles are the same: the terminal (thick and colourful) hair follicles become smaller and smaller (miniaturization), these hair follicles develop into colourless, fine hair-like hairs called vellus, the growth phase of the hair is shortened and eventually the hair falls out.
Although female pattern hair loss has similar characteristics to male pattern hair loss, it is considered different in many ways.
In men, hair loss usually affects the frontal (front), temporal (side) and vertex (crown) areas, whereas women do not experience complete hair loss like men. While in men the hairline goes backwards, this is different in women. Hair loss in women is more common in the form of hair thinning, which is usually spread over the entire hair or localized to a specific part of the scalp. Male hair loss is easier to recognize than female hair loss, as it follows a classic pattern. Since the causes of hair loss in women are not clearly defined, it is not as easy to diagnose as in men.
In some cases, our specialists may want to check hormonal values by requesting blood test values from female hair transplant patients before hair transplantation.
